WELLSBURG -- Indian Creek opened up a lead then held on to defeat rival Brooke Friday night on the road at Brooke Memorial Stadium, 30-24.

The win improves the Redskins to 4-1, while Brooke falls to 0-4.

The Bruins scored first on a Ty Sperringer to Darion Hilton connection for 19 yards before Creek's Kyle Shultz hauled in an 80-yard TD pass from Ian Starkey, making it 7-6. Brooke's Chase Hile booted a 30-yard field goal to make it 10-6 early in the second quarter.

Creek took the lead on a 1-yard Zion McGee scoring run to lead 14-10 at halftime.

The Bruins went back in front, 17-10, with a William Scott 28-yard scoring pass from Sperringer, but Creek scored the next two touchdowns to surge back ahead.

McGee added his second scoring run, an 8-yarder, then Jayce Nett scored on a 1-yard run to make it 30-17 Redskins after three.

Sperringer fired his third TD to Chance Brozstak early in the fourth quarter, and the Bruins had the ball and were driving late looking for a go-ahead score, but Creek got a big fourth down stop in the closing minute to seal the deal.

McGee finished with 122 yards and two scores on 22 carries for Creek, while Starkey went 7 of 12 for 126 and the long TD to Shultz.

For Brooke, Sperringer finished 14 of 23 for 163 yards and three scores, rushing for another 145 yards on 17 carries.
