MARIETTA -- Chase Beall tallied a goal and an assist as the Big Red boys’ soccer team scored two early goals en route to a 2-0 victory against Marietta Tuesday night on the road.

Landon Bowers also delivered a goal for Big Red (11-3-1).

Bowers scored the first goal for the Red-and-Black in the first minute off a throw-in from Beall making the score 1-0. The boys from Jefferson County tacked on another one four minutes later when Beall scored directly off his own corner kick to give the visitors a 2-0 lead.

Big Red goalie J.J. Lamantia made 10 saves on the night.

“It was a great win before the tournament,” Big Red head coach Greg Bowers said. “The game had a tournament atmosphere with Marietta being 6-1-6 and ranked in the top 15 in Division III. I’m proud of all of the boys. They dug deep in a highly-physical contest.”

Big Red is scheduled to play Edison at noon Saturday at home on Reno Saccoccia Field inside Harding Stadium. The game will be played on Big Red’s Senior Day.
