To the Editor,
Cancer -- this word is heart-wrenching to those who hear it.
One out of three Americans will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime.
This year alone more than 12,500 people will hear that in word in West Virginia.
Perhaps you heard that word yourself or you know someone who did.
We can help with supporting the American Cancer Society.
On June 1, the Brooke/Hancock chapter of the American Cancer Society will host a Relay for Life at Wellsburg Central Park from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m.
Relay for Life is an event to celebrate with cancer survivors and to remember those loved ones lost to cancer.
Relay for Life provides hope for those affected by cancer.
You can walk the relay, meet cancer survivors, and caregivers.
You can cheer on the survivors as they walk the first lap.
You can participate in the luminaria project with your donations. This is a lighted decorative bag lining the relay route with inspirational quotes for survivors and remembrances of lost loved ones.
You can also participate in a fundraiser to be held on Thursday at Primanti Bros restaurant in Weirton from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Brooke/Hancock Chapter of the American Cancer Society will receive 20 percent of sales.
You are needed to help end cancer as we know it, for everyone.
The Relay for Life is a great opportunity to fight back against cancer.
Thank you for your help ….
