EGCC practical nursing grads achieve 100% exam pass rate
STEUBENVILLE — Spring practical nursing graduates at Eastern Gateway Community College passed their NCLEX-PN exams with a 100 percent pass rate. The NCLEX-PN exam is the National Council Licensure Examination required to enter the field of practical nursing.
The one-year certificate program in practical nursing at Eastern Gateway prepares students to specialize in providing basic essential care to patients. The health care program provides students with hands-on learning in a variety of clinical settings.
“In today’s world, there is an increased shortage of nurses. We at EGCC are committed to changing this issue,” explained Jennifer Salyard, director of the practical nursing program. “Our dedicated staff ensures all learners receive a variety of teaching techniques with an emphasis on hands-on experience to be successful. We are proud of our graduates who committed to their learning to become the professionals needed to make a positive difference within the community we serve.”
LPNs work in long-term care facilities, acute care, home health and physician offices, making this program highly in demand in the Ohio and Mahoning valleys.
“Community colleges focus on providing for our residents by creating opportunities for them to grow and prosper right where they live. The practical nursing program is an incredible value to our local businesses and the health care industry in our region,” said Michael Geoghegan, the school’s president. Our students’ perfect pass rate is a tribute to our tremendous healthcare faculty and our students being invested in their futures.”
EGCC’s spring semester begins on Jan. 9, and students can apply online at egcc.edu or in person at our Steubenville or Youngstown campuses.
