Ohio State Highway Patrol

Booked: Leon King, 45, 454 E. Church St., Wintersville, 45, receiving stolen property and having weapons under disability, Feb. 25. Troopers said they found a pistol that had been reported stolen seven years ago in a car that had been abandoned after going over an embankment off county Road 22-A. Troopers said the vehicle was registered to King, and when they located him several hours later he had visible injuries to his face and head and was complaining his chest was sore. He said he was headed to an apartment on Two Ridge Road when he missed a turn, troopers said. They said the gun, which had nine live rounds and one in the chamber, was one of five guns reported stolen from a Bloomingdale residence in 2015.

Steubenville Police

Deep dive: Callers reported a woman digging through dumpsters behind Sunset Boulevard businesses, Thursday. They said she’d been asked to leave but hadn’t. Police located the woman, who denied being asked to leave the property. She wasn’t scavenging when they found her, so they told her it’s illegal and told her she needs to stop. She was also instructed to leave the property.

Booked: First responders had difficulty resuscitating a man bystanders said was unresponsive in the 2100 block of Sunset Boulevard, Thursday. Joshua M. Hickle, 36, 121 Aetna Ave., Mingo Junction, was charged with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs, police said. Officers reported finding Hickle in the driver’s seat with the engine running, and said they administered a sternum rub without success. They followed the rub up with nasal Narcan, again with no response. Steubenville firefighters/EMS took Hickle to the hospital. Police spoke with him later, but said Hickle started lapsing in and out of consciousness so a nurse were forced to administer more Narcan. Police allege they found a rolled up $5 bill and a torn brown bag in the cup holder containing a white rock/powder that tested positive for cocaine.

Callers reported an intoxicated male in the 800 block of Norh Sixth Street, Police said they could smell alcohol on him and said it intensified as he spoke, so they drive him to North Seventh Street and left him with family.

Problem child: A city resident said her pre-teen daughter was trying to hit her, Tuesday. The child was taken to the Juvenile Detention Center.

A Euclid Avenue resident told police a tree fell on his vehicle, Thursday. The car was parked across the street from his residence, in front of an abandoned property. Before it fell police said the tree “was upright located in the green space between the curb and sidewalk”

Up to no good: Callers reported a man checking door handles on vehicles parked at Rural King, Tuesday. Police didn’t locate him.

Teen angst: Callers reported young girls were fighting in the 1300 block of Maryland Avenue with a crowd of onlookers, Wednesday. No one was fighting and the crowd was already breaking up when police arrived.

Infectious: A Spring Avenue resident arguing with his father about whether he needed to see a dentist because of an infected tooth wanted him to leave, Wednesday. He said his father entered through the unlocked front door and then refused to leave. His father said he left when his son called police.

Stolen: A North Fourth Street resident said when he returned from paying his bills, he discovered his TV was missing, Wednesday. He said the only other person with a key is his ex-girlfriend.

Booked: Brett Cork, 34, 916 Lincoln Ave., Steubenville, warrant for petit theft, Wednesday.

Served: Nikki Earnest, 20, Petit Heights Road, Wellsburg, warrant for failure to appear, Thursday.

Cited: Shawn C. McGrew, 43, 908 Market St., Steubenville, failure to yield and no operator’s license; Helena C. Shipley, 21, Purcellville, Va., speeding in a school zone; Brian M. Nemeth, 44, 9302 state Route 164, Amsterdam, speeding in a school zone.
