Claws out: Two women got into a fight at a residence in the 1200 block of Oak Grove Avenue, Tuesday. The two, who are roommates, said they “punched and scratched each other” during the fight, and both insisted “they were defending themselves and that the other hit them first.” Both women had scrapes on their faces, and one of them had more scratches on her arm. Neither of them wanted to pursue charges.

Familial threat: A woman in the 2400 block of Cleveland Avenue told police a family member “put his hands around her neck and was acting out of control,” Tuesday. Police said Ryan Doran, 43, 236 Pico St., Steubenville, was booked into the Jefferson County jail on a domestic violence charge.

Pushy: A woman said her daughter has been texting her and “complaining about how she maintains her residence,” Tuesday. She said she told her daughter to mind her own business, and not long after her daughter “walked into her residence and began to argue with her.” She said her daughter smacked her in the face so she smacked her back, then called police. The daughter fled the scene. The caller had no signs of injury and wasn’t interested in filing charges.

Too much alcohol: A caller reported two men fighting in the 300 block of South Seventh Street, Tuesday. The two men claimed there was an altercation, but both were impaired and neither of them wanted to pursue charges. One of them had what police termed a “medical episode” and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Followed her home: A man who left his cell phone at the self-checkout at Kroger said he went back for it but it was already gone, Tuesday. He said he spoke with several people who were still in the line he’d been in and then followed a woman he believed took it out into the parking lot. He said she ran off so he got in his truck and followed her and she ended up returning his phone. He didn’t want to pursue charges against her but the store wanted him to file a report.

Camping out: A caller reported a man sleeping in the vestibule of a building on Johnson Road, Tuesday. The sleeper, who police know well, was told he needed to leave and did.

Weekly thing: A woman who’s been banned from a building in the 100 block of North Fourth Street returned to the property, Tuesday. Police checked an apartment where she is known to go but the resident said she wasn’t there. Police said the information would be sent to the prosecutor, noting that calls for her trespassing on the property are coming in “weekly.”

Transported: A caller reported a man possibly overdosing in the 1500 block of Maryland Avenue rear, but when police arrived he was awake and on his side, Tuesday. He was able to speak with police and firefighters, who took him to the hospital for assistance.

Thief: A woman wearing a gray and pink hoodie fled Kroger without paying for merchandise, Tuesday. Employees said she concealed detergent inside her bag.

Filed: A city resident reported being harassed, Tuesday. The resident said someone was sending “threatening text messages” in July and August.

Cat fight: A Dillonvale woman said a neighbor with whom she’s had problems “just drove into (her) yard, nearly striking her car that was parked with her infant in the back seat,” Tuesday. She said they’ve been at odds because the woman’s cat keeps “coming onto (her) property, causing damage and defecating on the premises” and thinks the neighbor was trying to keep the cat from going on her porch. She said the woman was warned previously to stay off their property but continues to trespass, so they’d like to pursue charges.

Shots reported: An Irondale resident reported hearing “eight or nine gunshots” in the vicinity of the gazebo, Wednesday. The caller reported seeing a group of kids at the gazebo dressed in all black. Deputies said they didn’t find anything amiss.
