Steubenville Police

Family matters: A city resident was booked into the Jefferson County Jail without bond after he allegedly showed up at a family member’s Euclid Avenue home for Thanksgiving dinner “heavily intoxicated” and belligerent, Thursday. The hostess said they began arguing shortly after his arrival and when she told him to leave “became all the more upset” and “grabbed a plate full of food and threw it out the back door.” Police said food and pieces of the broken plates were still on the porch and walkway when they were talking to the hostess, who claimed when she tried to get him off her property by herself he “took her to the ground.” She did have a minor scratch on her cheek but the back of her clothes “was completely covered in mud/grass stains” that she blamed on her alleged assailant. A male who was present told police he “tried to break up the fight” and ended up being attacked himself, and police noted he had several facial injuries, including a bloody nose and several minor lacerations to his lips, but denied medical attention. Police said Cody J. Billham, 32, 2516 Crabbe Boulevard, was charged with domestic violence. He told police he was “jumped” and “(never) took any swings” at anyone, though police noted his hands were “covered in blood.”

Cited: A driver was cited and his passenger booked into the county jail without bond after a traffic stop in the 500 block of Market Street, Wednesday. When asked to exit the vehicle police said the driver’s “pants and belt were completely undone” and were falling down, but he blamed it on losing weight, and when they searched the vehicle allegedly found “several torn plastic baggies with a white residue inside” plus several spoons and a used hypodermic needle in a bag on the floor by the passenger seat, plus a plastic pill organizer believed to contain some crack cocaine. The driver, identified as Raymond Lombardi, 76, 141 Tartan Drive, Follansbee, was cited for turning at an intersection, while his passenger, Deborah Schiffman, 44, 1304 Park St., Steubenville, was charged with possession of cocaine. Police allege Lombardi was making a right onto Market Street and ended up entirely in the other lane.

Grinch kids: A Union Avenue resident said four juveniles came onto her property “and destroyed one of her inflatable Christmas decorations and … dragged it across the street,” Wednesday. The homeowner said the miscreants also grabbed some other decorations she had in her yard and “scattered (them) throughout the neighborhood.”

Shopping early: Lowe’s employees showed police footage of a man walking out of the store with a DeWalt heater he hadn’t paid for, Thursday. The heater is valued at $279.

Wakeup call: Employees at the bus station needed help rousting a man who they couldn’t wake up at closing time, Wednesday. Police were able to wake him and after advising him he couldn’t stay there any longer, he left.

Charged: Ellen Still, 50, 825 Rosswell Ave., Steubenville, theft, Wednesday. Kroger supervisors allege Still pocketed $800 while working there.

Held without bond: Ryan Rettinger, 43, 420 Lauretta Drive, Steubenville, domestic violence, Wednesday.

Cited: Danny L. McComb, 66, Walden Ave., Tiltonsville, red light violation Wednesday after a two-car collision on Washington Street at North Fifth Stree.
