Charged: Marquon C. Underwood, 48, 1915 Yankee St., driving while suspended, fleeing in a vehicle and obstructing an officer, Saturday.
West Virginia State Police
Charged: Carl E. Anderson, 47, 143 Denese Drive, Weirton, driving under the influence, possession of a controlled substance and no seat belt, Saturday.
Follansbee Police
Charged: Austin D. Rinkers, 21, 1034 Highland St., Follansbee, violation of a protective order and person prohibited from possessing a firearm, Saturday.
Steubenville Police
Road raging: A motorist reported a semi with a white cab towing a sandbox trailer was tailgating him at high speeds,” Sunday. He said when the truck driver passed him, he “threw … an unknown object (out), striking his vehicle,” police said. The caller didn’t believe his vehicle was damaged.
Didn’t want to wait: A woman told police a $100 bill belonging to her got stuck in the deposit tray” at a Huntington Bank branch, Sunday. Police contacted the bank’s operation center and employees said they would “shut down the ATM.” When police relayed the information to the caller and advised her to file a claim, they said she told them “she would use needle-nose pliers to attempt to remove the bill.” Police told her that would be a mistake.
Stranded: Police were asked to check on a man whose family reported “no one had heard from him” since New Year’s Eve, Sunday. Police knocked on the door and were able to speak with the man, who they said “appeared to be confused and kept talking in circles.” An ambulance was called an firefighters made entry into the residence, locating the male who told them “He had fallen and been on the ground for three days.”
Getting out: A woman who was sitting in a car during her work break said her estranged husband came up to her vehicle “and started pounding on the windows while yelling at her,” Sunday. She said other employees told hm to leave the property and he did, but first she said he “threw an envelope” at her car. She advised she had been granted an order of protection against him but because of the holidays it hadn’t been issued or served. She was advised to follow up with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department to make sure the order is served as quickly as possible.
Noise maker: Callers complained of a loud radio in the 200 block of Lawson Avenue, Sunday. Police located a vehicle parked in a lot, unoccupied, “but the engine was running and a loud radio was playing.” They located the owner at an adjacent resident and had the vehicle turned off,
Booked: Police were called to the 500 block of Maxwell Avenue after an employee at Pleasant Food reported being assaulted by a customer who insisted the clerk hadn’t given him the correct change. The clerk said the two of them argued and then claimed the customer “grabbed him up by his collar and started shoving him around.” The clerk had redness and a scrape mark around the right side of his neck and chest area that police said was “consistent with when the male grabbed him around the collar.” Police said they reviewed security footage from the store appearing to show the customer “grabbing him around the neck and shoving him around and into shelving.” A little later police said the customer called them to advise he had been “short-changed” and claimed the clerk had thrown a punch at him, so he responded by grabbing his collar. Police said Teshawn Luke, no age listed, 418 Union Ave., Steubenville, was charged with assault.
Summons issued: A man was cited after he allegedly lied to police about his identity, Sunday. Police report the man and two companions were “walking in the middle of the roadway” and made no attempt to get out of the street until they activated their emergency lights. They claim one of the men balked at identifying himself but eventually identified himself as “Amen Butler,” but officers who’d had previous dealings with the man were able to identify him. Police said Terrick Grimm, 32, 508 Logan St., Steubenville, was charged with falsification.
Problem: A juvenile reported she’s being harassed by a Steubenville male, Sunday. She told police the man is “posting inappropriate things on social media.”
Booked: Alden Weidger, 1225 Pennsylvania Ave., Steubenville, assault, assault on a police officer, resisting arrest, harassment by an inmate and retaliation, Thursday; Millard Fordham, 51, 301 N. Seventh St., Apt. 1, Steubenville, warrant (Toronto county court), Sunday.
Waste of time: A man in the 200 block of Belleview Boulevard claimed the plates on a trailer were expired and wanted police to run the, Saturday. Police checked them and told him they were valid.
Drive off: A man in the 100 block of Aberdeen Road said he heard a loud crash “and looked outside and observed his neighbor … driving away” from his mailbox, which was broken in half, Friday. He said he yelled for his neighbor to stop, but he drove off. The caller said he just wanted it documented and would try to speak with his neighbor the following day.
One charged, one cited: A driver was cited, and his passenger taken into custody after a traffic stop in the 100 block of South Seventh Street, Saturday. Police said the two were initially spotted in a black Ford Mustang, allegedly traveling “at a high rate of speed around traffic.” The driver, Donald Henderson Jr., 25, 636 Lovers Lane, Apt. B5, was cited for driving under suspension, and his passenger, Brandy Henderson, 48, 113 Park Ave., Mingo Junction, was booked into the Jefferson County Jail on two counts of probation violation, police said.
Reported: A city resident told police her estranged husband is violating her protection order, Friday.
Changed his mind: A man in the 1500 block of Sunset Boulevard reported an assault, but when police arrived they said he told them “He did not need the police and did not want to cooperate,” Friday.
Noisy: A Whitehaven Boulevard resident was warned to keep the noise down after neighbors complained he was being loud, Saturday.
Cited: Naszier Feaster, 23, 807 South St., Steubenville, no operator’s license; Robert Blackwell Jr., 58, 117 Orchard St., Wintersville, warrant (Wintersville county court) for driving under suspension.
Jefferson County Sheriff
Showtime: A Yorkville caller said his roommate “wouldn’t let (him) in” after allegedly catching him engaging in intimate acts with a female acquaintance in the roommate’s bed, Saturday. He said his roommate was “upset” when he found them and “told (him) to get out,” but he’d lived there seven months and had nowhere to go. Deputies told the roommate that, upset or not, he’d been there long enough to establish residence and could legally go in and out of the home, but the roommate disagreed, claiming his name was the only one on the lease and the other man had no legal rights. They told the roommate he’d have to evict the man and advised the caller that while he was entitled to remain in the house they “would advise against it due to the roommate being so upset.” He said he would sleep in the car that night and return the following day for his belongings.
Trivial pursuit: A Rayland woman told deputies her sister-in-law “might be on the way to beat her up,” Sunday. She said she and her husband had been arguing and, upset, he’d called his sister, who allegedly told the caller after work she was “coming to their house so she could beat (her) up over the salad dressing argument.”
Petty man: An Irondale woman said her soon-to-be-ex-husband had shut off the electric service to her home even though her children were inside, Sunday. She said the account is in his name, so AEP refused to restore power or allow changes to the account. She said she’d obtained an order of protection that, in part, prohibited her ex from cutting the electrical service. Deputies said that order apparently hadn’t been served. With no heat in the house, deputies told her she’d need to get the children somewhere warmer.
