ArcelorMittal to hold recycling day

WEIRTON – ArcelorMittal Weirton, in partnership with the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection Rehabilitation Environmental Action Plan, will host a community recycling and waste round-up day from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the lot located between F and G avenues on state Route 2.

It is free to all Hancock and Brooke county residents.

Last year, ArcelorMittal Weirton and its partners helped nearly 200 residents safely recycle tires, e-waste, paper, plastic, glass and metal cans at this annual community event.

Residents can drop off the following items to be recycled or properly disposed: aluminum and steel cans; plastic; glass; paper, including cardboard and magazines; electronic waste such as computers, microwaves, televisions, video cassette recorders and stereos; universal waste, such as fluorescent light bulbs and small batteries; and tires of 18-inches or less with maximum of 10 per person. A valid West Virginia drivers license is required for disposing tires.

Household hazardous wastes such as paint and chemicals and pharmaceutical and medical waste will not be accepted.
