Fidelis Gamma honors member

STEUBENVILLE — The Fidelis Gamma Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa International Honorary Organization for Women Educators met at Froehlich’s Classic Corner in Steubenville June 1.

President Diane Higgins welcomed those in attendance and presided over the meeting.

Jerry DeFilippo shared an inspirational reading and gave the blessing.

Ruth Fuller read the minutes, followed by Carolyn Allison giving the financial report. Susan Cullinan reported on correspondence, stating she sent cards to those previously mentioned, having concerns.

The Altruistic report was circulated, after which members recorded their monetary/non-monetary contributions. It was noted by-laws will be delivered in August.

Scholarship Chairman Liz Pugh recommended the club present Sophia Aperfine a $500 scholarship. Members voted unanimously in favor. Higgins recognized Janet Benzo as a 50 Year Member of Alpha Delta Kappa/ Fidelis Gamma. She presented her with a certificate and flowered plant.

Nancy Deters provided a tribute to Benzo, expressing Benzo had been her role model as her seventh-grade teacher, as well as a member of the organization. Eileen Snyder was reported to be home and doing well. Twinkle Smith and Higgins were the hostesses for the meeting. The next meeting take place at noon Aug. 3 at Froehlich’s Classic Corner. Donna Durkin and Pugh are the hostesses. Sister birthdays for June are Shirley DeLuca, Shirley Washam, Higgins, and Benzo. The meeting was adjourned with the singing of, “The Lamp of Alpha Delta Kappa.”
