Toronto seniors meet
TORONTO — Toronto seniors gathered at the Karaffa Recreation Center and were welcomed to an American-themed meeting in the decorated colors of red, white and blue.
President Judy Bickler called the meeting to order and announced to those in attendance that “tour directors or assistant directors can and will remove” disruptive individuals on bus tours or meetings, as was placed in the bylaws. Thanks was given to those who assisted with the meeting, including, the kitchen committee of Laura Mamula, Mabel Strovilas, Christian Sklener, Shelby Smith, Emma Spicer, Ed and Vickie Ziegler, Don and Becky Swickard, Deana Starr, Karen Steigerwald, Irma Straka and Marilyn Izzi. Leading the seniors in a prayer of thanks and in the Pledge of Allegiance was Mary Alice Meyer.
Peggy Ziarko, social secretary, named all members birthdays and anniversaries, followed by a treasurer’s report given by Patty Smith. The report was approved. Secretary Peggy Miller then reported to members about the previous meeting. She then called roll. Members were reminded to pay their dues and it was mentioned that dinner checks are to be submitted by the first week of the month and mailed to Patty Smith. A special thanks was given to Karen Krause for the use of a coffee pot.
Thanks went out to all member callers, including, Mary Kay Petras, Smith, Bobbie Koltz, Lisa Rex, Rosemary Bonofide, Jean Cline, Carole Eddy and Ziarko. Bingo winners were: Christine Sklener, first game; Rex and Swickard, second game; Elizabeth Shipe, third game; and Virginia Dafoe, fourth game.The 50/50 drawing was won by Christina Huggins and a big basket was won by Marjean Sizemore. Door prizes were awarded to Pat Pfabe, Joyce Dobbs, Vickie Ziegler, George Uselton and Agie Rock.
