Mingo classes plan reunion
MINGO JUNCTION — The Mingo High School classes of 1977-81 have announced their upcoming class reunion, scheduled to take place from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Aug. 10 at the Mingo Knights of Columbus Hall.
The event promises an evening of nostalgia, re-connections and celebration, organizers said.
“The reunion is being organized by a dedicated alumni committee,” officials stated. The all-inclusive package will cost $40 per person. This includes one drink ticket, dinner and an evening of music. Reservations can be made online at myevent.com/mhsclassreunion2024. Reservations also can be made by mailing a check to: MHS Reunion 2024, C/O Wendy DeAngelis, 218 Highland Hills Drive, Follansbee, W.Va. 26037. Paid reservations are needed by July 20.
Festivities will begin with a bar crawl between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. Aug. 9. Attendees will have the opportunity to visit Mingo’s local pubs, including Hillsboro Tavern, the Townhouse, the Schutzen Club and the Parkview. This activity will provide a casual and fun prelude to the main event, organizers noted.
Reunion committee members shared their excitement surrounding the event.
“It’s been a joy to see classmates while we work on this reunion,” stated Larry Wright, Class of ’78.” “I can’t wait to see everyone at the reunion.”
“We have classmates coming from near and far — not only the Tri-State Area but across the country, too,” added Wendy DeAngelis, Class of ’79.
Penny Hazelip Olmstead, Class of ’79, summed up the overall sentiment stating, “There’s a deep love for Mingo High School and our days growing up in such a close-knit community. We had lots of siblings in the classes, along with cousins and extended family. It’s sure to be a great time together.”
