Free genealogy workshops available

NEWELL — A genealogy workshop has been scheduled free of charge to the public in the hopes of assisting individuals in researching their family history. Sponsored by the Tri-State Genealogical and Historical Society, the event will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Nov. 1 and Dec. 6.

“Join us in an exciting workshop that will help you begin your family history research or help you break down a brick wall you have been struggling with,” stated Martha Gittings, a volunteer with the society.

Officials announced the building is open every Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. throughout the year in order for residents throughout the area to conduct research and receive assistance from volunteers regarding their ancestors.

The room is located in the rear of the former Wells High School, Room 103, 717 Washington St. in Newell.
