Church to hold garage sale
STEUBENVILLE — Buena Vista Methodist Church, located at 3801 Schenley Ave. in Steubenville, will hold an indoor garage sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. An array of merchandise will be for sale, including Christmas items, decorations, art, crafts, toys, children’s clothes and more.
Church members will be selling soups, sandwiches and baked goods during the event. Dine in or carry out will be offered.
Soups will include vegetable, potato or bean and sold by the bowl or quart. Sandwiches will include sloppy joes or hot dogs. An assortment of baked goods will be for sale. A Chinese auction will take place during the sale.
Auxiliary to hold soup/sandwich sale
WEIRTON — The American Legion Auxiliary Post 10 in Weirton will hold a soup and sandwich sale from noon to 2 p.m. on Sunday at the post, located at 3140 Pennsylvania Ave. in Weirton.
Soups that will be offered include chili, chicken noodle, stuffed pepper, vegetable and bean.
Sandwiches will include meatballs, egg salad, ham salad and chicken salad. A variety of desserts will be sold as well.
The sale is open to the public, with dine in or carry out options available.
Paint with the artists
WINTERSVILLE — The Steubenville Art Association will hold its Come Paint with Our Artists event from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Nov. 6 at the Center of Music and Art in Wintersville.
This activity was originally scheduled to be held Saturday and will be open to the public. The cost to participate will be $25 per person and can be paid at the CMA using cash or credit card.
Those planning to attend should call the CMA in advance so officials will know how many people to expect.

Participants will create a 16-by-20 inch painting of either Christmas penguins or a snowman. Backgrounds will be designed as desired.
The canvas, paints, paint brushes and embellishments will be provided by the SAA.
The association strives to meet all types of talent and experience levels. The penguins and snowman will be drawn by the association’s artists and will need only to be painted. Anyone who would prefer to draw their own will be given a pattern to trace and follow.
“Our artists will be sure to meet your needs so that everyone will take home a Christmas painting to be proud of,” commented Judy Schmidt, president of the SAA. “So, come and spend a relaxing evening with the artists of the Steubenville Art Association and welcome in the holiday season.”
Sycamore folk dancers to perform
STEUBENVILLE — The Sycamore folk dancers, based out of Steubenville, have put together two large-scale performances this November. The dancers show, “Alpentanz,” will feature traditional folk dances and music from Germany, Bavaria and Austria. The group consists of 45 dancers between the ages of 7 and 35, along with a live band. The performance will feature traditional German costumes, props, instruments, singing and dancing.
The shows are free of charge and fun for all ages. No reservations are required.
The Wheeling show will take place at 6:30 p.m. Monday at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church gym, located at 2103 Market St. in Wheeling.
The Steubenville show will take place at 7 p.m. Nov. 10 at the Sycamore Youth Center.
Church Women United to meet
WEIRTON — Weirton’s unit of Church Women United will hold its next World Community Day at 11 a.m. Nov. 7 at Shiloh Apostolic Faith Assembly. The project will be donating healthy snacks for the Weirton Christian Center.
Toronto Christmas event set
TORONTO — Inspire Toronto is holding its annual Christmas light-up night entitled “Miracle on Toronto’s Fourth Street,” beginning at 5 p.m. Nov. 29 at the corner of Clark and North Fourth streets.
The purpose of the evening is to collect donations for needy families within the city, according to officials with the group.
Sponsorships are being accepted and will help nonprofits such as the Helping Hands Food Pantry, the Kiwanis Club’s Coats for Kids, Toys for Toronto, Christmas with a Cop and the light up night event.
Sponsorship levels include: Santa Level, $500, a wood sign displayed at the event, social media post, large logo on T-shirts and large logo on banners; Elf Level, $400, social media post, medium logo on shirts and medium logo on event banners; Reindeer Level, $300, social media post, small logo on shirts and small logo on banners; Snowman level, $200, social media post, large name on shirts and large name on banners; or Angel Level, $100, social media post, small name on shirts and small name on banners.

Rosemont to hold holiday sale
STEUBENVILLE — Rosemont Chapel, located at the corner of Williams Boulevard and Goulds Road, will hold its annual Christmas and Holiday Sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 8.
The sale will feature a variety of miscellaneous household items and several holiday lights and decorations, according to organizers.
Hot sandwiches and homemade baked goods will be available for purchase.
