STEUBENVILLE — Members of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution met at Historic Fort Steuben where the group planted a liberty elm tree on the grounds.
Following the activity, chapter members moved to the meeting room inside where Chapter Regent Janet Rymer called the meeting to order. The invocation and blessing were given by Chaplain Griselda Taylor. Flag Chairman Karen Blanc led in the reciting of the pledge. The American’s Creed was led by Second Vice Regent Sue Davidson and the national anthem was led by Tammy Kotyk.
DAR Service for Veterans Chairman Susan Welch read the biography for veteran honoree Sergeant Jack Nesbitt, presenting him with a certificate of appreciation. Registrar Marsha Cable presented Nesbitt with a Vietnam veterans pin. Rymer presented their veteran honoree with a star from a retired American flag as a thank you for his service to America.
Following a luncheon, Rymer introduced the chapter’s scholarship chairman, Melinda Young, superintendent of Steubenville City Schools.
Young spoke on the history of Fort Steuben, presenting a video entitled, “The Historic Fort Steuben Project.” The film outlined the 1786 fort and its archaeological site. The video was produced by Shana Wydra, Steubenville City Schools STEM director. It was edited by Natalie Campana, SHS CTE department head.

D’Aurora reported she placed 11 grave sites from Union Cemetery into the Survey 123 app for America 250. Rymer presented certificates of appreciation to chapter members D’Aurora and Hauldren for their hard work for the chapter and the community.
Past Regent Mary Ann Jesse reported on her research into past chapter member Golda Fulton’s will. Members were encouraged to record their Service to America hours.
