Benefit shoot postponed

NEW CUMBERLAND — Due to extreme low temperatures and drifting snow, the Chester-Newell Sportsmen Club has canceled its upcoming benefit turkey shoot, set for Saturday.

The event has been rescheduled and has an alternate date of March 21, according to organizers.

The event is to assist Marine and National Guardsman Tyler Rawson, who was in an accident in October. Officials asked residents to help inform those who were planning to attend.

Mardi Gras fundraiser set

Attendees must be 21 years of age to attend the event, organizers noted.

Games and drawings will take place throughout the evening. Music will be provided by Jonathan Mihellis of Finest Entertainment.

A portion of the proceeds raised from the event will be used to help benefit the Weirton Christian Center and its preschool and after-school programs, officials stated. For ticket information, call (304) 748-7212.
