Life Line Hospital Has closed its doors
WINTERSVILLE — Life Line Hospital at 200 School St. has closed its doors, leaving about 70 employees without jobs and patients having to be moved to other facilities.
Dr. Atul Shetty, one of the 48 doctors who owned the hospital, said many long-term acute hospitals are having financial problems. He noted Medicare reimbursements were decreasing and private medical insurance would not authorize payments for admittance to the facility.
He said the number of patients at the facility was decreasing to the point that the decision was made to cease operations on June 9.
Shetty said many of the employees already have found employment at other facilities.
“We thank the community and our employees for their support over the years of operation. Weirton Medical Center Wintersville is still very much in operation in the building’s first floor,” Shetty said.
Kelli McCoy, WMC director of communications, confirmed the closing of Life Line has no impact Weirton Medical Center’s operations at the facility.
Weirton Medical Center Wintersville offers primary care and specialty doctors, blood-screening labs, CT scans, ultrasound and radiology services. WMC began operations at the facility at the end of March.
Life Line Hospital offered comprehensive respiratory services, ventilator weaning; dialysis treatments; extended IV antibiotic therapy; wound care; physical, occupational and speech therapy; nutritional services; and special procedures, according to website.
All of the inpatient rooms were private, complete with showers and restrooms.
