Graduations set in Hancock County: School board addresses end-of-year business

NEW CUMBERLAND — Hancock County’s high schools are still planning to hold commencement exercises for the Class of 2020.

Graduation plans were among items discussed during a virtual meeting held Monday by the Hancock County Board of Education, which also approved some end-of-year business.

Oak Glen High School has scheduled its commencement for 6 p.m., May 26, outside of the school, although details have not been finalized.

Weir High will have its graduation at 6 p.m., May 27.

Although state officials recommended that all in attendance wear masks, school board members said they cannot enforce the request. Attempts to get further details about graduation was not possible as officials didn’t respond to inquiries.
