26 indicted by Brooke County grand jury
WELLSBURG — Several violent crimes and cases involving the sexual abuse of children were among those that led to 26 indictments by a Brooke County grand jury on Monday.
Among them was Jared L. Helsel, 39, of 1585 Washington Pike, Wellsburg, who was indicted for malicious assault for allegedly stabbing a man known to him in the stomach following an argument on June 5.
Tyler W. Woolwine, 25, of 1801 Coss Lane, Wellsburg, was indicted for attempted first-degree robbery, attempted burglary and conspiring to commit the crimes for allegedly using a firearm to threaten his way into a Wellsburg home to obtain drugs on Dec. 26.
Christopher A. Price, 46, of 324 Patton Ave., Wintersville, was indicted for four counts of wanton endangerment for allegedly firing two shots in the direction of two people on June 13.
According to police reports, the two told Brooke County sheriff’s deputies they were riding in a vehicle on Main Street south of Cove Road, when Price fired shots at them from a vehicle he was driving behind them at about 5:30 a.m. June 13.
Deputies found two spent shell casings on the roadway.
Kenneth W. Iverson, 46, of 112 Friendly Acres Road, Wellsburg, was indicted for failing to register as a convicted sexual offender and three counts each of third-degree sexual assault and sexual abuse by a custodian for sexual intercourse with a youth in his care in 2017.
Roger L. Sullivan, 34, 1230 Main St, Follansbee, was indicted for first-degree sexual abuse and two counts of sexual abuse by a custodian for sexual contact with a youth in his care in 2008.
Dustin W. Geary, 28, of 125 Butcher Lane, Follansbee, was indicted for kidnapping, burglary and two counts of third-offense domestic battery.
The charges stem from two alleged incidents: one on May 1 in which Geary is said to have kicked a woman and picked up a man and slammed him to the ground and another on Aug. 6 in which he is said to have taken a woman known to him from her home against her will and broken into a Weirton home to commit a crime.
Also indicted were:
– Eric G. Hughes, 28, of 3712 Orchard St., Weirton, for grand larceny and obtaining property by false pretenses.
Hughes allegedly told a property owner he would install a refrigerator, electric range, toilet and ceiling fan in each of five apartments, then stole several of the appliances.
– James Lucas, 38, 864 Virginia Ave., Follansbee, for possession of material depicting minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct. Police said hundreds of such images were found in encrypted files on the hard drive of Lucas’ laptop.
– Nichole R. Carnes, 32, 134 Eva St., Weirton, for delivering a controlled substance and transferring a stolen vehicle.
– William R. DeWall, 20, 399 Cherry St., Wellsburg, for grand larceny and obtaining under false pretenses for allegedly stealing a motorcycle he had pretended to take for a test drive.
– Michael D. Ensminger, 45, 58 27th St., Wellsburg, for fraud using a debit card belonging to another person and conspiring.
– William S. Fetty, 34, 187 Patriot Lane, Weirton, for possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver.
– Mark A. Galiano Jr., 22, 136 Putney Ridge, Colliers, for failure to appear.
– Michael S. Goddard, 30, Apartment C6, 306 Blue Ridge Manor, Wellsburg, for two counts of assuming another’s identity for allegedly using another’s information to apply for a credit card and make financial transactions.
– Nikki J. Jordan, 42, 2239 Main St., Wellsburg, four counts of embezzlement and three counts of grand larceny for allegedly taking about $5,240 from the business where she worked during a three-day period.
– Larry G. Maynard, 47, 48 Boston Lane, Wellsburg, for driving while his license was revoked for driving under the influence.
– Jason L. Mitter, 37, 22 Cross Roads Lane, Wellsburg, driving while license was revoked for DUI and reckless fleeing.
– Dejoeve L. Platt, 43, 1425 Main St., Wellsburg, delivering a controlled substance and transporting it into the state with intent to deliver.
– Darrell L. Prunty, 53, 446 Buffalo Road, Wellsburg, for destruction of property and attempted grand larceny for allegedly damaging a forklift he used to hide a skid of scrap metal he intended to steal from the business where he worked.
– Miguel Randalson, 53, Pittsburgh, for grand larceny for allegedly taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent.
– Megan Reed, 33, 2880 Eldersville Road, Colliers, for fraud using a debit card belonging to another person and conspiring.
– Rachel E. Sinsel, 29, 106 North 15th St., Weirton, for forging and uttering a withdrawal slip on the bank account of another person.
– Erica Smith, 33, Apartment 4, 205 Main St., Follansbee, for delivering a controlled substance.
– William T. Tunno, 34, 3729 West St. Extension, Weirton, for four counts of forgery with a credit card belonging to another person.
– John D. White, 41, Apartment 1, 330 Center St., Weirton, two counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver.
