Barilla to be recognized
STEUBENVILLE — A farewell reception for Steubenville Mayor Jerry Barilla will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Nov. 6 at Froehlich’s Classic Corner, 501 Washington St.
Tickets for the event are $35 each and can be purchased at the City Building or at Froehlich’s.
Driver hospitalized after accident
WELLSBURG — The driver of a cement truck that rolled over on state Route 67 Wednesday morning was transported by medical helicopter to a Pittsburgh hospital.
The Brooke County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the accident, which occurred at about 9:30 a.m. along an embankment between Hukill Run Road and state Route 88.
The Bethany Fire Department reported the driver was extricated from the vehicle, which lay on its side, and was treated at the scene by Brooke County and West Liberty emergency medical personnel.
Route 67 was closed for about five hours following the accident.
Firefighters from McKinleyville, Wellsburg, Franklin Community and West Liberty, West Virginia State Police, the Brooke County Emergency Management Agency and West Virginia Division of Highways provided assistance.
