Fire station topic for workshop

WEIRTON — Weirton Council will meet in a work session at 6 p.m., Tuesday, in Room 201 of the Weirton Municipal Building.

The topic of the workshop is the County Road Fire Station.

Two face drug charges

MINGO JUNCTION — Two men were taken into custody after authorities raided a Mingo Junction residence Thursday.

Jefferson County Drug Task Force Commander Chris Vinci said Quasean Townsend, 31, of Cleveland, and Dean Mitchell, 64, 2865 Wilson Ave., face felony drug possession and trafficking charges.

Vinci said the task force, along with Jefferson County Special Response Team and the sheriff’s department, allegedly seized 81 grams of cocaine, six grams of crack cocaine and 40 grams of fentanyl, along with three guns and $2.300 in cash from the property occupied by Mitchell.

The Jefferson County Drug Task Force is comprised of sheriff’s deputies, Steubenville police officers and the Jefferson County Prosecutor’s Office.

Elections board to meet

STEUBENVILLE — The Jefferson County Board of Elections monthly meeting will be Monday, beginning at 9:30 a.m. in the Tower building, 500 Market St., Steubenville.

Mingo council to review talks

MINGO JUNCTION — Village Council will review union negotiations Monday beginning at 5:30 p.m.

Mayor Judy Ruckman said collective bargaining representatives and some members of council for the session, an “opportunity to review negotiation possibilities” prior to the regular council meeting at 7 p.m.
