Weirton pickleball tournament set for March 14-15
WEIRTON — For the fourth year running, pickleball players from throughout the region are invited to compete for bragging rights and fun.
The Weirton Board of Parks and Recreation will present its fourth-annual William Curenton Spring Open Pickleball Tournament March 14 and 15 at the Millsop Community Center.
“Registration is open for that now,” noted Programs Director Chris Krishak.
The first day’s sessions will begin at 9:30 a.m., with play on the second day at 11 a.m. The tournament will be set up as either a double-elimination or round robin depending on the number of entries
“We’ll have four categories,” Krishak said, explaining participants can compete in men’s doubles, women’s doubles, mixed doubles, and a category of doubles for those 70 years of age and up. “We have limited spots in each of the categories.”
The fee to participate in the tournament is $15 per person, or $25 if the participant wishes to compete in multiple divisions.
The deadline to register is March 11.
