Jefferson County grand jury indicts four
STEUBENVILLE — A Sherman Avenue resident who allegedly threatened an individual who had provided information to police was one of four people indicted Wednesday by a Jefferson County grand jury.
Grand jurors ordered Shannon Lamont White, 952 Sherman Ave., to stand trial on an intimidation charge, a felony.
White, 48, allegedly “threatened physical harm to an individual who had provided information to police regarding an earlier car crash,” authorities said.
Grand jurors also returned indictments against:
*Eulis Ellsworth Curenton, 617 Grandview Ave., Steubenville, possession of cocaine and having weapons while under disability, both felonies.
Curenton, 52, allegedly had cocaine and a gun in his possession, both felonies, when the county’s Drug Task Force took him into custody Feb. 19. Authorities said Curenton is prohibited from having or using firearms due to a drug trafficking conviction in Jefferson County Common Pleas Court in 2024.
Prosecutors also asked the court to order Curenton to forfeit the $2,854 he had in his possession at the time of his arrest, deeming it to be proceeds of the alleged drug trafficking activities.
*Benjamin Michael Delguzzi, 40, no known address, having weapons under disability, possession of cocaine, possession of a fentanyl-related compound and aggravated possession of drugs (methamphetamine on March 21.
The felony indictment includes specifications seeking forfeiture of his gun as well as $278 in Delguzzi’s possession when the Drug Task Force took him into custody after they searched the residence where he ‘d been staying March 26.
*Delbert Wayne Tanner, 142 Eugene Loop, Follansbee, aggravated possession of drugs, a felony. Authorities allege Tanner, 48, had methamphetamine in his possession when a Steubenville police detective saw him put a backpack done “like he was trying to hide it” and, when asked if it was his, told him “he just found (it).” When the officer checked the bag he reported seeing a couple hypodermic needles in it so he seized the bag to ensure no one would pick it up and accidentally prick themselves, along with a sales receipt from Family Dollar for Moon Pies. Authorities maintain the detective was able to check the store’s surveillance video and captured images of Delguzzi purchasing the treats, which were still in the backpack.
Tanner allegedly had methamphetamine in his possession when he was taken into custody.
Grand jurors also amended an indictment they’d returned an indictment returned a month ago against 29-year-old Devin Brandon, 1401 Wellesley Ave., Steubenville, to include a felony charge of possessing fentanyl, along with the cocaine possession and weapons under disability charges he originally faced.
The updated indictment reflects the results of a laboratory analysis of substances seized during a Jan. 22 search of his residence, authorities said.
Prosecutors are also seeking forfeiture of $3,764 in his possession at the time of his arrest as well as a one-year sentencing specification because a gun was involved in the alleged offense. Brandon is prohibited from having or using weapons due to a 2022 conviction for involuntary manslaughter in Common Pleas Court and a 2023 conviction for aggravated assault, also in Common Pleas Court.
