Commissioners award courthouse fire alarm contract

STEUBENVILLE — Jefferson County commissioners awarded the contract to replace the courthouse’s outdated fire alarm system to Fort Steuben Maintenance. Fort Steuben bid $349,500 for the contract, the “lowest qualified, responsible bid received,” McKinley Engineering Associate Project Manager Christian Rivera said. Rivera previously told commissioners the project will be a “full replacement” and should be completed by February. Portion of South 11th Street to be closed for maintenance Tuesday

WEIRTON - A portion of South 11th Street will be temporarily closed to traffic Tuesday, to allow for maintenance, according to the Weirton Public Works Department. The closure will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., weather permitting, and affect the areas between Red Rider Road and Hill Street. Motorists are advised to plan their routes accordingly. SMITHFIELD — The Friendship Park District will host a public dedication ceremony Sept. 12 for Jefferson County’s official Heritage Tree as part of Ohio’s Heritage Trees: Planting History Project.
