Weirton Council to discuss property maintenance concerns

WEIRTON – Members of Weirton Council will sit down next week to discuss concerns with, and possible adjustments to, the city's property maintenance procedures. A work session has been scheduled for 6 p.m., Tuesday, in Room 201 of the Weirton Municipal Building, with an agenda to include discussion of “general property maintenance compliance, enforcement and procedures.” The work session is open to the public. Crash under investigation in Hancock County

NEWELL – The Hancock County Sheriff's Department is investigating a two-vehicle crash near the Ergon refinery, Tuesday, which resulted in one individual trapped within a vehicle. Hancock County 911 received a call from Ergon just after 3 p.m. Tuesday of a two-vehicle crash with entrapment and injuries on W.Va. 2 near the refinery located south of Newell. Ergon employees and passing motorists stopped to assist before emergency responders arrived, acording to a report from the Sheriff's Office. Beech Bottom election sees tie in council results

BEECH BOTTOM – Four of the five at-large council seats in Beech Bottom were decided as part of Tuesday's election, with the fifth to be determined during next week's canvassing. The village election saw nine candidates step forward with the hope of representing their community on council. Of those, Shane Niven received the highest number of votes with 39, followed by Greg Sheperd with 36; Don Hubbard with 35; and Nick Showalter with 34. POLICE BEAT STEUBENVILLE POLICE Swinger: A Sinclair Avenue resident told police she had argued with a male Wednesday and “hit him with a bat” as he was leaving and does not want him to return. Police located the man, who originally gave them a fictitious name but eventually admitted he did it because he knew a warrant had been issued in Colorado for his arrest.
