Rommel Dallas

Rommel J. “Yum” Dallas, 90, of Steubenville, died Thursday, December 3, 2015 at Lifeline Hospital.

He was born June 16, 1925, in Steubenville. He is the son of the late Reno and Edith Checca Dallas.

Yum graduated from the Congressional Capitol Page School in Washington, D.C., and served as a page in Congress under President Franklin D. Roosevelt. He served as sports editor of the school paper. Yum attended Carnegie Tech in Pittsburgh, PA for college.

Yum was the owner/ operator of Steubenville Plate & Window Glass for 52 years, served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II, was a member of the DAV, and was a Catholic.

He is preceded in death by an infant sister, Adeline.

Surviving are his wife, Doris “Snook” Neidengard Dallas, whom he married February 25, 1950; two sons, Thomas (Linda) Dallas of Steubenville, and Michael Dallas of Wintersville; and one daughter, Patricia Dallas of Steubenville. Also surviving are three sisters, Adeline Loos, Rena Hambelton, and Marlene Gaskins, all of Florida; four grandchildren, Patina Ighnat, Hoboken, NJ, Natasha (Shane) Alessi, St. Clairsville, Angela Dallas, Los Angeles, CA and Gianno Dallas, Steubenville. He is also survived by one great-grandson, Brantley Cole Alessi; and many nieces and nephews.

Services were private and a private burial was in Union Cemetery.
