N. Charlotte Lind

N. Charlotte Lind, 95, of Weirton, WV, passed away with her family by her side at Weirton Geriatric Center on Sunday, September 22, 2019.

She was born July 1, 1924 in Weirton, daughter of the late Charles and Laura Boyce Kirschke. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, William C. Lind, and sister, Mary Margaret Smerke.

Charlotte was a graduate of Weir High School and was a C&P switchboard operator in Weirton and during World War II in Washington, D.C., where she met her Navy husband. Charlotte was a charter member of First United Methodist Church where she was honored as the longest living member. She was past president of the Hancock County Sheltered Workshop.

She will lovingly be remembered for many things and selfless volunteer work but most of all for being a wonderful mother to Sharon L. Charles of Richmond, VA, William C. Lind of Martinsburg, WV, David C. Lind (Nada) of Shepherdstown, WV, and Deborah J. Lind of Weirton, WV; and a proud and doting grandmother to Tyler Lind Charles (Elizabeth) of Richmond, VA and Tessa Lind Bowers (Jeff) of Shepherdstown, WV and great-grandsons, Jackson Charles of Richmond, VA and David Guy and Cameron Bowers of Shepherdstown, WV; and sister to Alice F. Price of Follansbee, WV.

Charlotte found the most joy being with her family. She was an avid WVU Mountaineers, Steelers, Pirates and Penguins fan.

Friends will be received Monday, September 23, from 6-8 p.m. at Steel & Wolfe Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., 380 Penco Road, Weirton where a celebration of her life will be held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Margie Carr presiding. Burial will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Weirton.
