LARY ARNETT

Lary W. Arnett, 89, of Weirton, West Virginia, passed away on July 3, 2025, at WVU Medicine-Weirton, following complications from a recent heart attack.
Born at his family’s home in Piney, WV on April 12, 1936, Lary was one of seven children of the late Willard Ira and Maxine Laurine McHenry Arnett.
Lary’s childhood journey took him from the hills of Piney Grove to Huntington, then East Liverpool, and finally settled in Weirton, where he spent the majority of his life. At the age of 17, he answered the call to serve his country and proudly enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, serving honorably from December 1953 to December 1956.
On February 15, 1958, Lary married the love of his life, Rose Marie George, with the help of his best friend and lifelong confidant, Walt Urbowicz. Together, Lary and RoseMarie built a beautiful life and raised two daughters and a son. They were also blessed with three grandchildren.
Lary worked as a machinist at Weirton Steel for 35 years. He was known for his unmatched work ethic and his remarkable ability to fix anything to perfection. A self-educated man of great intelligence, he had the rare gift of being both deeply thoughtful and delightfully humorous. His conversations could range from light-hearted jokes to profound discussions about life, philosophy, and the world around him.
A nurturing and devoted family man, Lary was a pillar of strength and warmth to his siblings, children, and grandchildren. He never missed any of their activities. He was the one everyone called for help with Saturday morning projects, and he never hesitated to lend a hand. He lived his life as a shining example of integrity, humility, and kindness.
Lary was a member of Saint Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church and the Weirton Steel 25-Year Club. In his younger years, he enjoyed bowling and golfing.
In addition to his parents, Lary was preceded in death by his brothers, Gary and Jimmy Arnett; and sisters, Barbara Arnett and Shirley DeLatore.
He will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 67 years, Rose Marie George Arnett; his children, Lary Jon (Keith Hasting), Vicki (Terry) Gilles, and Darla (Joe) Nester; his grandchildren, Major Chaz T. (Olivia) Levendorf, Zachary D. Levendorf (Amy), and Drs. Ethan (Courtney) Levendorf; and his sisters, Connie (Albert) Broccolini and Debra (Jeff) Eloi; and four generations of nieces and nephews.
Private services were held with his family.
To honor Lary’s legacy, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, through a Mass at your local Catholic Church, or to a charity of your choice.
