McAfee sets record in Harrison Central’s win over Buckeye Local
CADIZ — The Harrison Central girls basketball team got a bounce-back win over rival Buckeye Local on Thursday, 74-44.
Lexee McAfee led the Huskies (5-12) with 24 points, hitting eight 3-pointers that gave her a Harrison Central single-season record with 56 on the season. Sydney Starr finished with 19 points and 15 rebounds for a double-double, while Marina Miller had nine points.
Buckeye Local (8-8) was led by Emily Holzapfel with 22 points, while Alaire Destifanes had 10 points.
Both teams are back in action Saturday in the Buckeye 8 Championships at Martins Ferry. Harrison Central plays East Liverpool at 1:45 p.m., while Buckeye Local plays St. Clairsville at 5:15 p.m.
Harrison Central won the jayvee game, 32-27.
