Ashlyn Six

CHARLESTON — The Oak Glen volleyball team had another successful season, which ended in a third-consecutive trip to the Class AA State Tournament.

One of the players that helped the Golden Bears get to the semifinal round, Ashlyn Six, was recognized by the West Virginia Sports Writers Association as a first-team all-state selection.

Six, a sophomore for coach Morgan Poling’s team, had 392 kills during the regular season, along with 48 aces and 199 digs.

Counting the postseason, she finished with 470 kills, averaging five per set, and a percentage of 40.8.

She had a total of 64 aces and 219 digs.

Shady Springs junior Meg Williams captains the all-state team in Class AA.

Oak Glen’s Teya Hall, a senior, was selected a special honorable mention.

She had 33 aces, 55 assists and 324 digs on the season, counting the tournament.

Golden Bears teammates Sydney Smith and Gracie Wright were selected as honorable mentions.

Weir High’s Mea Kaufman was also an honorable mention selection.
