Creek’s White first team All-Ohio pick
Some 8 from Creek, three from Edison, two from Harrison recognized by OPSMA
COLUMBUS — The Division IV and V football All-Ohio teams were announced Tuesday by the Ohio Prep Sports Media Association.
Information used for the All-Ohio teams comes from the regular-season accomplishments and does not include playoff games. The seven districts of the OPSMA determine the all-district teams and nominate their best for the All-Ohio teams.
Earning recognition in Divisions IV and V were a total of 13 local players from three schools.
In Division IV, Indian Creek had eight players recognized after a 9-1 season and second-straight playoff trip, led by East District Defensive Player of the Year Nishon White, who was voted to the All-Ohio first team on the defensive line.
Also from the Redskins, quarterback Ian Starkey was a second team selection and running back Bruce Mazar was a third team pick.
Earning honorable mention were offensive lineman Luke McMillion, kicker Franco Barcalow, defensive lineman Mason Salazar, linebacker Gavin Pownall and defensive back Jordan Hines.
In Division V, Edison linebacker Matt Evans was a third team selection while running back Brett Hellyer and offensive lineman Ronnie Hinerman were honorable mentions.
Harrison Central quarterback Brady Hyre was a second team selection and the Huskies Kayne Dunkle was an honorable mention at wide receiver.
Today, the Division II and III All-Ohio teams will be announced, followed by the Division I team on Thursday.
The Division VI and VII All-Ohio teams were released on Monday.
