The OVAC tournament is looming and the postseason is not far behind it.
That process is going well for Big Red, who took advantage of a rare night on its home mats by sweeping a tri against Brooke and Weir High inside the Crimson Center Wednesday.
“We looked pretty good tonight, of course we always have some things to work on,” Big Red head coach Lucas Huffman said. “It was a strong showing for our guys as we head towards OVACs.”
Big Red topped the Red Riders 62-14 and then had an even stronger showing against the Bruins, 72-6.

Kasyn Berkey (126 pounds), Charlie Abbott (157 pounds) and Beau Hudson (285 pounds) each picked up a pair of pins in the dual wins.
Abbott’s second pin was his 100th career victory.
The duals were the first of just two times wrestling at home in the regular season for Big Red this year, so a strong showing in one of a few chances to compete in front of the home crowd was something Huffman was happy to see.
“This is our first of two home duals, it was our first time wrestling at home this year,” Huffman said. “It’s good to wrestle in front of the home crowd, it was a nice crowd in here. We appreciate Brooke and Weir for bringing their fans over also.
“With only two home duals, it’s not ideal, but we want to take advatnage when we’re here.”

Landon Burdine (132 pounds) had the Bruins lone win against Big Red, while Weir’s Joshua DeFelice (165 pounds) and Benjamin Bryan (215 pounds) had wins for the Red Riders.
Monte Guntrum (106 pounds), Cole Harvey (120 pounds), Julius Mullins (138 pounds), Demeatrus Benjamin (144 pounds), Cameron Pugh (150 pounds), Karson Simmons (165 pounds) and Colt Gamble (215 pounds) all had pins for Big Red against Brooke.
Jalen Steave (113 pounds) won by decision.
Landon Crosier (190 pounds) had a tech fall against Weir, while Pugh won a close decision.
