Big Red rolls over Dover in a blowout for third straight victory

DOVER — The Big Red offense is rolling.
After breaking out with 55 points last week, Big Red topped that number Friday night at Dover, exploding again in a 63-34 victory over the Crimson Tornadoes inside Crater Stadium.
The win is the third-straight for Steubenville, now 3-2. Dover drops to 1-5.
After Dover struck first after a fumble on a kick, Big Red answered with a Ca’Juan Bryant 35-yard scoring run late in the first quarter to knot the score.
Landon Crosier’s 3-yard run on the next possession made it a 14-7 Big Red lead after one.
Dover answered early in the second quarter, but Big Red re-took the lead with a 6-yard Bryant run for his second TD less than a minute later. Bryant then scored on a 13-yard run to make it 28-14 Big Red for Steubenville’s first two-score lead.
After Dover got back within one score, Crosier scored his second TD late in the second quarter to make it 35-21 Steubenville at the break.
After Dover got within seven again early in the third, Crosier scored for a third time on a 2-yard run to make it 42-38, still early in the third.
Tre Wiggins intercepted a pass on the next Dover drive, and Bryant then went 3 yards for his fourth score of the game. Dover got to within 49-34 late in the third, but Big Red scored the final 14 points from there.
James Turner had a 1-yard plunge late in the third quarter, then the final Big Red score came on a 3-yard run by Colten Henderson, which was set up by another Wiggins interception.
Big Red scored all nine of its touchdowns on the ground.
The win moved Big Red into a playoff spot unofficially at No. 12 in Division III, Region 11 according to Joe Eitel’s rankings late Friday night.
Steubenville is back at Harding Stadium the rest of the way, beginning with a visit by Farrell (Pa.) next Friday. The Steelers bring a 4-1 record to town.
