Steubenville police

Buyer beware: A Maxwell Avenue resident told police a woman armed with a black semi-automatic showed up on her doorstep demanding money she said the woman’s son owed her, Friday. She said she told the woman her son wasn’t home but the intruder didn’t believe her, and threatened to shoot up her house and her son before shoving the gun in the small of her back and telling her she would have “people” on both ends of the street watching for him. She described the intruder as a chunky white female with multiple tattoos on her face and arms and said she left in a small white construction-style van. A friend of the son believes the woman was upset because she’d bought a used gaming system that the victim’s son had purchased online and then turned around and resold.

Burglary: A Wildon Avenue resident reported a burglary in progress and said he thought two people were still in his house and he had taken refuge at a neighbor’s house, Friday. An officer located a mask-wearing intruder hiding behind a baby’s crib in an upstairs bedroom, and said a struggle ensued when he tried to holster his weapon so he could take the intruder into custody. He said the man kicked him and other officers in the chest and neck multiple times, and he punched him twice in an attempt to subdue him. The officer said the intruder continued to fight so he backed off and deployed his taser, “which seemed to have little effect” so he deployed a drive stun, at which point the officer said he “finally stated he was done and gave officers his hands.” Police said charges are pending against the intruder, a juvenile.

Upset: A man who was yelling obscenities at a TV had to be removed from the coffee bar area at Mr. Fuel, Friday.

Shattered: Police believe they’ve identified a man who fled Kroger after slamming two bottles of tequila down, risking injury to two nearby children when they shattered, Saturday. The suspect, a bald man with a large beard wearing a light blue shirt and black shorts, had two bottles of 1800 Tequilla he hadn’t paid for when a worker intercepted him near the front door, police were told. The store manager told police shards of glass from the broken bottles almost struck two children.

Assault: A woman waiting for a friend in the 1300 block of Oak Grove told police her friend’s boyfriend got in her car and demanded her cell phone, and when she wouldn’t give it to him assaulted her, Saturday. She claimed she had bruises where he’d put his hands on her. The male told police he had reached for the phone but denied assaulting her, saying the woman had actually scratched him on the cheek. Police couldn’t see injuries on either of them, so no one was arrested.

Threats: A Market Street resident said he was sitting outside Gaylord Towers when another man approached him and threatened him, Saturday. He said the man said he was going to kill him and put a hit on him, and when he tried to stand up, he pushed him to the ground. He said the other man also prevented him from going inside. He told police he wants to pursue charges.

Back: A woman was allegedly knocking on windows and attempting to get into a residence in the 1300 block of Euclid Avenue, but when police arrived at the scene the caller told them she was upstairs in her apartment, Friday. The man told them he has an active order of protection against her, but he was unable to produce it.

Be gone: A Ridge Avenue resident told police a man who’d been staying with her a month needs to leave, Friday. The man told them he’s been there longer than a month and said when officers have been there in the past, they’ve told her she’d need to go through the eviction process because he’d established residence. She told police if he didn’t leave, they’d be back to take her to jail. The man said he’d walk to a nearby fast-food restaurant to see if he could get a ride somewhere. Police were back at the residence Saturday, with the man insisting he shouldn’t have to leave without her going through the eviction process police had advised her to follow. He did say he was waiting for a family member in Columbus to send him money so he could leave.

Altercation: A Sherman Avenue resident told police she wanted the father of her children to leave her apartment after a verbal altercation turned physical, Friday. The woman told police he’d head-butted the back of her head and grabbed her by the mouth, but she wasn’t ready to pursue charges against him even though her lip was bleeding. He admitted arguing with her, but denied any physical altercation. He was advised to leave.

Accident: A North Fourth Street resident said she backed up and knocked a motorcycle over, Friday. Police said they observed a small dent and a side mirror broken off, but nobody knew who owned it.

Drugs: A man reported as overdosing in the 200 block of North Seventh Street told ambulance personnel he’d used methamphetamine, Friday.

Booked: Gregory L. Robinson, 24, 320 Terrace Ave., Steubenville, domestic violence, Friday; Anthony D. Montgomery, 20, 1507 Euclid Ave., Steubenville, fugitive from justice, Saturday; Peter A. Macconachioe, 56, 3514 Sunset Blvd., Steubenville, theft, Friday; Shanae Jacqueline Smith, 20, 326 Highland Ave., Steubenville, operating a vehicle impaired, Saturday; Andrew Williams, 29, no fixed address, possession of drugs and falsification, Sunday.
