Steubenville police

Sleeper: A man caught sleeping at the wheel of a vehicle parked in the 900 block of Lincoln Avenue with the engine running allegedly had a glass pipe in plain view, a baggie containing a crushed suboxone and another containing a white powder substance believed to be crack, Monday. Donald K. Shook, 36, 301 Carnegie Court, Toronto, was booked on felony possession of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Domestic: A city resident said she and her wife were arguing and when she tried to leave, her wife grabbed her by the throat and began punching her, Monday. The woman said she was able to break free and left the residence, but when she tried to return for her belongings her wife refused to let her inside. Police said the woman had several areas of skin discoloration on her face and neck that could have been caused by the altercation, and said she was visibly upset and clearly in fear of the other woman and wished to pursue charges.

Runner: A shoplifter fled Kroger with three bottles of Remy Martin valued at $86, Monday. The man was wearing a tan jacket and green military style pants and was last seen near the intersection of Stanton and Sunset, police said.

Grinch: Vandals cut a Belleview Boulevard resident’s Christmas lights in half, Monday.

Window watching: A woman was spotted peering into windows in the 1100 block of Lincoln Avenue, Monday. She told police she was trying to find her son, who she believed lived there for the past few years. Police talked to the current owner, who said the man doesn’t live anywhere near there.

Cut out: The theft of a catalytic converter from a vehicle parked on the rear lot at Sunset Motors over the Thanksgiving holiday was reported, Monday. An employee told police the theft was discovered when a customer came to test drive the vehicle, a 2010 Ford F250.

Suspicious: An Adena woman said a stranger knocked on her door claiming to be looking for an address where he was supposed to fix a dart board, then went to a house up the street and told the homeowner he was looking for an address where he was supposed to fix an electric fence, Tuesday. She described him as wearing grey sweat pants and a grey shirt driving an older model silver Jeep Liberty.
