Bread Basket discussion

Members of the Weirton Heights Rotary Club met this week, welcoming representatives from the Community Bread Basket. Marilyn Charnie, president of the board of directors, and Jeanie Montgomery, administrator, joined the club during its weekly breakfast meeting. The Community Bread Basket will soon move to its new location at 3265 Main St. in Weirton, following a donation made by former Weirton residents Bill and Nena Beynon of Naples, Fla., who purchased and donated the former Wesbanco building to the organization. Charnie expressed her appreciation for this generous gift for the community. The larger space offered by the building, along with its location, is “a perfect fit for the bread basket,” Charnie stated. Montgomery spoke to Rotary members about the various programs and services available through the nonprofit agency, including a food pantry, a utility assistance program and the Gabriel Project, which provides baby items such as diapers, clothing and supplies to those who are in need. For information on the CBB or its programs, or for ways to support the agency, contact Montgomery at (304) 748-7595 or through e-mail at cbbstaff03@gmail.com. Among those taking part in the meeting were Rotary Club President Cathie Caranda and Charnie.
