Steubenville Police Fishy business: A customer was causing problems at an eatery in the city on Tuesday. Employees said he “was complaining about his food and demanding a refund.” The man told police “his food smelled funny, and he wanted his money back,” but when police pointed out they couldn’t force the employees to give him anything he walked away. Brooke County Sheriff Charged: Francis E. Shriver, 48, 51 27th St., Wellsburg, domestic battery, Saturday. Charged: James M. Shifflett, 45, 1079 Boyd Road, Colliers, domestic assault and impersonating a law enforcement officer, Saturday. Brooke County sheriff’s deputies responded to a 911 call from Shifflett, who had identified himself as a state trooper. Upon their arrival, they learned that Shifflett wasn’t an officer, had threatened to kill a family member and had a history of mental illness. Steubenville Police Slight miscalculation: A man on a bicycle turned right from onto N. 6th street and dinged a police cruiser trying to squeeze between it and the sidewalk, Sunday. Police said there “was not a big enough gap” for him to navigate through and his tires slid on the gravel while making the turn. He left a small dent and a scratch on the side of the cruiser. Steubenville Police Patrons were briefly evacuated from Seven Ranges after three “older teens wearing coats, one (of them also) with a blue ski mask on” caused problems and sprayed fire extinguishers in the business and several mall units. A technician advised he was in a private room working on a video game when the trio “barged into his work space” so he confronted them.
