Steubenville Police On the run: A man allegedly snatched his child away from his mother in the 100 block of North Fourth Street was taken into custody after a foot chase, Friday. Bystanders said the man fled on foot with the child’s mother in pursuit of him. An officer also gave chase on foot and caught up to them near Washington Street apartments and reported the man knocked the child’s mother to the ground while he was holding the child. Steubenville Police Tearing it up: A city man was taken into custody after police found him in the home of a woman he’d been ordered by a judge to stay away from, Monday. Joseph Mitchell, 30, 1301 Ridge Ave., was charged with violating a protection order after police found him at a residence in the 800 block of Market Street while following up on a 9-1-1 hangup call. They said they discovered “the kitchen to be a mess and multiple people yelling at each other” and the woman said they’d “been arguing all day” and it turned physical.
