Women vote
Mary Beth Bauer, a volunteer at Historic Fort Steuben, paused at a photo station in the Steubenville Visitor Center commemorating Women’s History Month. Through the end of the month, visitors to the center can take a selfie in front of an early-1900s backdrop while wearing a sash or holding a picket sign in support of women’s suffrage, or the right of women to vote, and read about the movement’s presence in Ohio. Visitors also will receive a vintage 1915 postcard, bearing the words “Let Ohio Women Vote.” The center’s suffrage exhibit is an abbreviated version of an exhibit that had been displayed for only a week in 2020 before the COVID-19 pandemic forced its closure. — Christopher Dacanay
