Weirton sets Fall Clean Up
WEIRTON – The City of Weirton has scheduled its annual Fall Clean Up for Oct. 6-10, with services provided only to current city sanitation customers.
Clean Up collection services will be provided to residents on the same day as their regular garbage collection.
Clean Up week pickups will be limited to household goods, with items placed on the residents’ curb no later than 7 a.m. on the day of their collection.
City crews will not pick up construction materials, vehicle tires, vehicle parts, tree trimmings, brush, propane tanks, air conditioners, lawnmowers, paint, oil, antifreeze, or hazardous materials.
Recyclable materials also will not be picked up during the Clean Up week.
In addition, a metal items collection will be offered Oct. 2-3.
During those days items, including stoves, refrigerators, dishwashers, washing machines, dryers, hot water tanks, old railings, bicycle frames, and metal shelving, will be collected if placed curbside before 7 a.m. on Oct. 2.
Officials note an ordinance prohibiting the scavenging of garbage or other articles placed curbside for clean up will be enforced.
Individuals cited could be fined between $5 and $500, plus costs, with the potential for up to 30 days in prison for subsequent charges.
