A time for us to rejoice

To the Editor, Many are rejoicing at the news our economy is vibrant, as trumpeted by President Joe Biden. And who can dispute Biden’s tremendous success? Let’s look at some facts. The present unemployment rate is stated as 3.5%. This nearly unprecedented number should give cause for peace of mind for everyone. So let’s relax, recline and ignore bigots making a fuss as to why matters are so bad. But wait a minute. How come prices are so high at the gasoline pump and at the grocery store? The last time we viewed the shelves the price of bacon has doubled from a year ago. No ...

Democracy is on the ballot

To the Editor, The Jan. 6 hearings have been profound. The information revealed has been riveting. The former president called his supporters to Washington for Jan. 6, 2021. When he left the rally, he went back to the White House and watched all the violence and destruction on TV. Witness after witness testified to the committee that they urged the former president to make a statement and call off the rioters. ...

Maybe some can learn

To the Editor, Congratulations, America. Another week without Blundering Biden stumbling into nuclear war with Russia over Ukraine, a war which has absolutely nothing to do with us. Anybody dumb enough to continue voting Democrat after this embarrassing, two-year debacle of (willful?) incompetence and virtual treason isn’t worth wasting my time. A billboard by Republicans in Texas welcomes new residents, who’ve perhaps come to escape ...

Following storylines

To the Editor, There are two storylines about how man evolved. Did one ever wonder how simple nature began? The Garden of Eden? Adam and Eve? Nudity? No sin? Four-thousand years have passed since the Egyptians left their imprint by building the pyramids. skepticism met with the parting of the Red Sea. Be careful —when the powerful fall, there is no bounce back. You are in their hell-hole forever because of their evil behavior. Four-thousand years later, the landscape’s the same. Whoever has the most oil and nuclear weapons is the mad man to end it all. There is nowhere to ...

Timeless

To the Editor, Sometimes we look for good things. Sometimes we wish for happiness. Sometimes we hope for the best for others. And sometimes...sometimes, the best doesn’t happen. The passing away of a dear friend, husband, father, mother, wife, will never go away. But the cherished memories are always there. We look for good things. We wish for happiness. We have memories...that will never go away. Kevin Neverly Weirton
