Cove Road needs addressed

To the Editor, I have watched all summer with roads being paved and re-paved, but the road in front of our city building has been forgotten. It looks terrible with quick fixes of pot holes. It’s time this road from the church to the railroad tracks is done. Does no matter if it’s a state or city road, it’s high time this road is done. Our cars are taking a beating on this stretch of highway. It’s high time city officials get this road done and make it easier to drive on. Richard Budney Sr. Weirton

Get out and vote

To the Editor, I am a lifelong subscriber of this publication. I rely on this paper for local and national news, daily happenings, to keep updated on sports, and to see who died so I can offer my sympathy. In the 50 plus years as a loyal subscriber, I have never been motivated to send a letter to the editor. However, last week’s letter struck a nerve. The person stated, “anybody dumb enough to continue voting Democrat after the embarrassing… isn’t worth wasting my time.” I pride myself on having friends from all political parties. They offer different perspectives on issues, ...

McGeehan is a true leader

To the Editor, It’s not often you use the words integrity and politics in the same sentence, and it’s certainly no secret that finding men and women who serve with conviction in government is not an easy task. However, in the Northern Panhandle you don’t have to look far to find a leader who serves with both conviction and integrity. Pat McGeehan embodies the qualities every elected official should strive for — qualities like honesty, courage and humility. During the last few years, I have had the opportunity to serve alongside Pat in the House of Delegates and have watched ...

McGeehan deserves support

To the Editor, I am Delegate Chris Phillips, finishing my second term in the West Virginia House of Delegates. I am writing to offer my full and unqualified endorsement of Delegate Pat McGeehan for reelection to the First District seat. I met Pat when I was first running and he shared an office with my predecessor who was retiring. Before I even met him I was impressed with his extensive library covering politics, religion and philosophy, including some books he has written. It told me Pat was a deep and serious thinker who carefully weighs his decisions and understands ramifications ...

Wakim Chapman the right choice for State Senate

To the Editor, As we approach Election Day this November 8, I urge readers to support Laura Wakim Chapman for State Senate to represent us in the Northern Panhandle. Recently, Laura’s opponent has started running ads attacking her on several issues, including issues affecting women. I cannot believe that a 62-year-old man would ever feel that he has the authority to attack a woman like this and try to claim the high ground on women’s issues, but that’s exactly what he’s attempting to do. I guess that after he spent nearly 20 years in office, her opponent is now desperately ...
