Commissioner in favor of Amendment 2

To the Editor, I’d like to share my position on Amendment 2 that you will be asked to decide this November. I’ve always voted for what was best for me individually according to my circumstances at the time. I will be doing the same now and it benefits me to vote YES on Amendment 2 and give the West Virginia Legislature discretion to remove the tax I pay on my vehicles every year (side note, this will also remove the business inventory tax which is great for the cash flow of small and large local businesses). I am elected to represent you as Commissioner, so I want to share ...

Support swimming in West Virginia

To the Editor, Mention West Virginia to someone that lives outside of our state, and those individuals may respond with comments such as: hillbillies, moonshine, John Denver’s “Country Roads,” or the beautiful mountain landscape that drapes a good portion of our State. Take a moment and reflect back to the late 1980s and early 1990s. A vast majority of the U.S. population did not want to give soccer a fighting chance when it was being introduced back then. Many thanks to those brave individuals that believed, pushed, and persevered to push that vision to fruition back then. If ...

What is a nurse?

To the Editor, A nurse is defined as a caregiver, and who provides first aid. But they are more then that. They are the nanny in pediatrics that reads to your sick child while they fight their sleep. They are the caregivers in the critical care units...watching the heart monitors as their patients are medicated for their pain. They are the angels of mercy when family members are unable to be at their side. They are like council members, when loved ones are in the Emergency Room as caring folks wait for the news. Nurses...caring is sharing. My wife, like others in her field, ...

A failed experiment

To the Editor, So far, the human experiment has been a failure. Has humanity degraded into a comedy or errors to gods of punditry spew every night as news? Judgment Day: There’s not enough fire in the pit to punish the evil ones in the world who wallow around in their state of a pleasurable sensation of making believe they’re a reincarnation of Rush Limbaugh, not realizing he is already being referred to as “Rush Who?” Steve Kopa Weirton

It’s all a lie

To the Editor, A few thoughts… The January 6th “insurrection” was a Department of Justice false flag operation, followed by a show trial with fake evidence, all unable to be challenged, and paid, scripted witlesses (not a typo), all unable to be cross-examined. People were imprisoned, from this farce. The longer this continues, the closer the traitor Democrats and RINOs emulate their traditional heroes, the Soviets. The FBI’s investigation of Trump and raid of Mar-A-Lago might carry somewhat more weight with We, the People, if Hillary Clinton was in orange scrubs and ...

Route 2 plan wrong for New Cumberland

To the Editor, I am amazed that WVDOT is still proposing the most expensive and destructive way to put WV Route 2 through New Cumberland. What WVDOT officials are planning, Alternative 4, would require widening Station Hill and Ridge Avenue. Widening Station Hill would involve expensive concrete buttresses all along the bottom of the hill from Chester Street to the bottom of Ridge Avenue to prevent Route 2 from falling. It has done that already. Only quick action by town employees prevented vehicles from falling into the gap that was created by the failure. Widening Ridge Avenue would ...
