Million-dollar mistake

To the Editor, In 2016, the Hancock County Commission offered a nonprofit that had operated their county animal shelter $88,000 from the county’s “general account” to operate the shelter for fiscal year 2017. Combined with the $100,000 annual Animal Shelter Excess Levy, the nonprofit would receive $188,000 in taxpayer funds to operate the shelter. The nonprofit agreed. However, the commissioners also mandated changes to the shelter operation contract so detrimental to the welfare of the animals, the nonprofit would not sign the modified contract. o the Editor, Mr. Steve Psaros recently appeared before city council to air his views and gather information on the proposed water/sewer expansion project. He felt he got short shrift. Welcome to the club Mr. Psaros! o the Editor, Coronavirus: The down side, the new normal, social distancing and wearing a mask. To see a beautiful woman and not dream of getting a hug is shockingly unfair. Generation Z’s dream of the future, big bucks in everybody’s pockets knocked out by COVID-19. To the Editor, Having recently retired from ministry here in the Ohio Valley, it occurred to me that a thank-you was in order. Twenty-eight years ago, going on 29 now, our family relocated from the East Fairfield where we had spent most of our lives and were quite at home.
