Cross’ monster night leads Weir over Harrison
CADIZ — Colin “G” Cross scored 45 points to lead Weir High to an 82-77 double overtime victory on the road at Harrison Central on Friday night.
The Red Rider senior made five 3-pointers and scored 13 of his points in the extra frames. He finished 14 of 18 from the foul line.
Weir High opened a 34-24 lead at halftime and led 49-40 going to the fourth quarter, but the Huskies scored 23 in the fourth quarter to force the game into OT.
After the game was knotted at 69-69 after one extra quarter, the Red Riders out-paced the Huskies 11-6 in the second extra frame to take the win.
The Huskies’ Jace Madzia nearly matched Cross with 39 points, 19 from the foul line and 12 in the overtimes. Hayden Cassidy had 19 points and Cabot Arbaugh 11.
For the Red Riders, who are now 7-6, Momo Prentice had nine points and Justin Brueck eight.
Weir is off until the city championship at Madonna next Friday. The Huskies play at rival Buckeye Local on Thursday night.
Edison falls at Beaver
CALCUTTA–The Edison boys basketball team dropped a 76-35 decision on the road at Beaver Local on Friday night.
The Wildcats were led by Hunter Rotchacker with 10 points and Brayden Moses with eight.
Edison is at Toronto on Tuesday.
