Fidelis Gamma celebrates birthdays

WEIRTON -- The Fidelis Gamma Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa International Honorary Organization for Women Educators met June 4 at Eat ‘n Park Restaurant in Weirton, with Co-Presidents Carolyn Allison and Ruth Fuller officiating.
There were 16 members in attendance. Allison lit the memory candle in remembrance of those who could not attend the meeting. The purpose of the meeting was to recognize the birthdays of members.
Chaplain Elaine McClung led the Pledge of Allegiance and shared a devotional reading entitled, “Sit Still.” Secretary Patty Ferris read the May minutes, and they were approved. Corresponding Secretary Eileen Snyder received a thank-you note from outgoing President Susan Cullinan. She also received a postcard from W.Va. state correspondence recognizing Janet Benzo for the backpack program sponsored in Follansbee. Treasurer Cullinan gave the financial report.
Ferris gave the altruistic report.
Fuller announced the new committee chairpersons. They include: Courtesy, Yvonne Santin and Bonnie Queses; Altruistic, Ferris; Bylaws, Crystal Baranowski and Donna Durkin; Fraternity Education, Queses and Nancy Conley; Photographer, Sandra Anderson.
Birthdays of all members were announced, and cupcakes were served to honor the birthdays.
Allison and Fuller presented a hanging basket of flowers and a card to Past President Cullinan. Cullinan displayed the Alpha Delta Kappa Violet Award for good reporting and record keeping.
Allison suggested for the August meeting, that members bring in a small antique -- something that is special to us or belonged to a relative. Tables will be decorated with the items. Allison showed a cup and saucer from her father.
Hostesses for the meeting were Fuller, Allison and Eileen Snyder. The next meeting will be on Aug. 6.
