Fort concert postponed
STEUBENVILLE -- Thursday's edition of the Fort Steuben Summer Concert Series was postponed, officials said.
The New Age Adenas and Out of Eden had been scheduled to perform at 7 p.m. in the Berkman Amphitheater. Paul Zuros, executive director at Historic Fort Steuben, said no make-up date has been set.
“We hope everyone can come to next Thursday’s performance, which will feature the 1170 Jamboree Staff Band Reunion Show,” Zuros said.
And then on July 4, the Brassett Hounds, the Ron Retzer Trio and the Fantasy’s will take to the amphitheater stage as part of the city’s Independence Day celebration.
Youth fun day postponed
STEUBENVILLE -- The threat of inclement weather for the weekend has forced the postponement of Saturday’s fifth-annual Ja’Quon Lavender Olympic Youth Fun Day.
The event has been rescheduled for noon to 3 p.m. July 11 at the Harding Stadium track.
It will feature nutritional education, track and field-themed activities with enjoyable competition and lessons on teamwork, sportsmanship and self-confidence.
Four Season club meets
STEUBENVILLE -- The Four Seasons Senior Club held its May 20 meeting at Froehlich’s Classic Corner.
President Gene Viola called the meeting to order. The opening prayer was followed by the pledge of Allegiance and “God Bless America,” which was led by Bobbie Koltz.
Mary Alice Myers was introduced as a guest, and Faith Melto won the 50-50 drawing.
Entertainment was a Family Feud game. Prizes were won by Bobbie Koltz, Buckie Simms, Frank Cola, Rita Orler, Laura Mamula and Marilyn Izzi.
Door prize winners were Laura Mamula, Faith Melto, Mary Alice Myers, Faye Jones and Kim Stempien. Dinner winners included Laura Mamula, Gene Viola, Mike Rowland and Dodi Magnone. Birthdays of Lee Lewis, Laura Mamula and Joyce Dobbs were recognized.
Faye Jones delivered the secretary’s report, Valerie Rowland presented the treasurer’s report and Joann Liewellyn told jokes.
Club members voted to play Family Feud again and discussed hiring a magician.
Mary Alice Myers gave the closing prayer.
Wintersville student among Ohio Connections grads
WINTERSVILLE -- Jennalyn Shoemaker of Wintersville is among the graduates in Ohio Connections Academy's Class of 2026.
More than 480 graduating seniors from across the state recently received diplomas as members of the tuition-free online public school. The school celebrated its Class of 2026 during a commencement ceremony June 6 at the Ohio Expo Center in Columbus.
The class collectively earned more than $2.2 million in scholarships and awards.
Ohio Connections Academy serves more than 5,000 students statewide and is the 18th graduating class for the tuition-free virtual school.
