Police reports

Steubenville police

Tripped up: A Marion Place resident was standing outside her residence, yelling for someone to call 9-1-1 shortly after midnight, Saturday. Police said the woman was “extremely upset and appeared under the influence” and told them she’d been arguing with her husband and that he’d shoved her to the ground. When they talked to her husband, he said they’d argued but it never got physical and said she “fell over all the junk that she has accumulated throughout the residence.” Neither of them wanted to pursue charges.

Adding up: An officer spotted a man wanted for domestic violence and after advising him of the warrant, the man took off running in the 500 block of North Seventh Street Friday. Police lost track of him when he ran between houses on Dock Street. He’s now facing an additional charge of obstructing official business in addition to his domestic violence.

Punched: A city resident said her intoxicated son came into her apartment and punched her in the side of the face, Friday. She said she went outside to ask a neighbor to call police and when she came back inside, her shoved her against a wall, choked her, broke her glasses and threatened to kill her. Police said the woman’s neck was red and she had blood on the bridge of her nose, and told them she wanted to press charges.

Enough already: A man who was unloading his groceries said his neighbor confront him about an incident last week, saying he behaved aggressively toward him and “got in his face,” Friday. The other man said a few days prior the man unloading his groceries had thrown dog hair out his upstairs window at him, and said he felt threatened when the man told him he’s a boxer and has a white belt in karate.

Not a taxi: A man was asked to leave Trinity West and wouldn’t, and when police arrived, he told them he wanted a ride home. He’d been warned previously that officers couldn’t continue ferrying him around town, so they advised him the police department wasn’t his personal taxi service and he would have to leave the area or be arrested for trespassing; he left the area on foot.

Potty mouths: Juveniles were cursing and making inappropriate comments to two women in the 1300 block of Oakgrove Avenue, Friday. After discussion the issue with the juveniles, they apologized to the women.

A Pennsylvania Avenue resident told police he and his girlfriend had been arguing so he left his apartment, and while he was gone she trashed some of his belongings, Saturday. He wasn’t interested in pursuing charges, but he told police he did want a report on file in case the problems continued.

A juvenile on Dresden Avenue was warned dirt bikes aren’t allowed on city streets, Saturday. To avoid causing problems with neighbors, the child also was warned against revving it up when he rides between houses or risk being charged with an excessive noise violation.

Overdid it: An unconscious man was spotted at the corner of North Fifth and Logan streets, on his knees and face with his hands curled by his throat, Saturday. Police had difficulty rousing the man, who kept slipping back into unconsciousness, but when he did stir he indicated he was overdosing and needed Narcan. He was issued a drug treatment form.

Code issues: Notices of violation were sent to the owners/occupants of 1520 Maryland Ave., 1532 Euclid Ave., 1658 Oregon Ave., all for high grass/weeds.

Hit-skip: A vehicle parked in the 500 block of South Fifth Street was sideswiped by a hit-and-run vehicle, Friday.
