Sparkle Market chain will have new ownership

NEW CUMBERLAND — A local grocery store chain with a longtime presence soon will have a new owner.

Joe Rosak will take over ownership of Todd Sparkle Market on Jan. 3, officials with the four-store operation have announced.

A former general manager for the chain, Rosak has been involved in the operation of the company since 2002, giving him knowledge and experience which are critical to operating the business.

Current owner Gordon Todd noted his primary concern was making the ownership transition as seamless as possible for the company’s loyal customers and employees in Ohio and West Virginia who have been served for the past 25 years.

“As I have given much thought over the last few years about retiring, I wanted the store operations to remain successful,” Todd said. “I have complete confidence that Joe will continue to improve these four locations and maybe add more in the future. We have been blessed to have great community support during the past 25 years. Words cannot express how thankful we are to all the dedicated people we’ve been able to work with and to the fantastic customers who have supported us.”

Rosak said he is looking forward to continuing to serve the community.

“My family has great respect and admiration for Gordon and his family, he said. “We will strive to offer the same shopping experience for our communities as the Todd family has provided. Also, I look forward to continuing the great relationships I have developed with our employees during the past 18 years working for the Todd family and hope to continue the stores’ service to its supportive communities.”

All four locations will remain Sparkle Markets with no changes to the store operations, officials said, adding there will be no changes made to staff, advertising, promotions or pricing. Sparkle will continue its long-standing support of local civic and nonprofit organizations, they added.

The chain has locations in New Cumberland, Chester, East Liverpool and East Palestine.
