Time is so precious

To the Editor, As we go through our everyday lives, we take everything for granted. Carefree souls are we, Feeding ourselves with chemically filled food that we don’t realize what we digest. But the outcomes are astonishing. A little thing is going on with me right now. It can and will be corrected. We often fall to these chemical that we use and eat every day. But as time moves on, those unmentioned and unpronounceable, take over our bodies. It is shell shocking. And it surprised me greatly. In a few days, a procedure will be performed on me to correct that certain thing that ...

Who will take Putin down?

To the Editor, Historically, no changes have occurred unless the public is heard. Who will get the last word when America wacks Iran? Fox News chatters all day trying to start World War Three. Isn’t it sad to think Ingraham, Watters, Hannity can be heard. 2023, Putin’s the man holding the world at bay. Town meetings will be held. What to do with the Butcher of Ukraine. Special forces, Navy and air will deliver the blow. Snuff out terrorism, barbarism as the Holocaust we know. Up to the people of one great republic. Blessed by the gods whoever they might be to give ...

Some odds and ends

To the Editor, The Republican Party has dug a hole of embarrassment. Kevin McCarthy is out as speaker of the house — who’s in? If calmer minds do not prevail in appointing a speaker, one who will dictate with dignity, not hostility, it might save the union. If not, the worst is yet to come. Evil is at work. Fox News pundits are hitting on Hunter Biden and giving Donald Trump a free pass. I had a friend named Wyn, from down home he came. With his down-home drawl these words of wisdom came. I never lie, I just exaggerate the truth: Sorry to say, there’s no nice way to die or ...

Remember: Faith over fear

To the Editor, October has been designated as National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Perhaps you have noticed the pink decor in stores. But you especially see the pink ribbons worn by breast cancer survivors. National Breast Cancer Awareness Month was started in 1985 with the help of then-first lady Betty Ford — a breast cancer survivor — and the American Cancer Society. One out of eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. Early detection of breast cancer can be done with mammograms. Early detection can save lives. President Joe Biden ...

Are you a brownnoser?

To the Editor, A brownnoser is defined as one who attempts to curry favor in an obsequious manner. Most are guilty of this at some time or other in life while some remain brownnosers throughout. In early stages of life, one may attempt to win the good graces of his elementary classroom teacher. Impeccably neat in appearance, well-scrubbed and tidy, he is seen in his Buster Brown attire going about admonishing his fellow students to be nice, while bringing a well-polished apple to his teacher. A true “Little Goodie Two-Shoes” is he, ready to recite his Sunday School lesson to ...

Thanks for a successful Riverfest

To the Editor, Another New Cumberland Riverfest is in the books and its success is the result of a community pulling together. Yes there is a Riverfest Committee and yes, there are very few members on that committee but it takes the entire community to actually make a successful Riverfest. Special thanks to Trisha Enochs for hosting the Riverfest 5K. She coordinated presale sign ups, application distribution , tee shirts and sponsors. One hundred and four runners and walkers competed on a perfect day . Trisha lined up a professional timer, police protection, water sources and safeties ...
